Tattoo After Care

  • The after care of your new tattoo will greatly determine the way your Tattoo will look once it has fully healed.
  • Remove bandage after two - three hours and wash the tattoo gently with an antibacterial soap and water. Dial antibacterial soap or Softcap is highy recommended. Wash your new Tattoo in a clean environment, the bathroom at a bar is probably not the best place. Gently pat dry with a clean paper towel.
  • After 24 hours begin to apply a very thin layer of Aquaphor to your Tattoo 2 - 3 times a day. Aquaphor ointment can be found in most drug stores or supermarkets in the lotion section. If the Aquaphor is too thick it causes breakouts around the Tattoo. Use very sparring amounts! You want your Tattoo to breath. Do not listen to your friends or self - proclaimed tattoo experts, they do not know what the fuck they are talking about.
  • Do not pick scabs as this will cause your Tattoo to bleed and will pull the ink out of your skin. Plus your hands and fingernails are filthy. Do not allow your friends to touch, slap or otherwise finger bang your Tattoo. If you have pets such as Dogs or Cats be mindful to keep your Tattoo off of surfaces or bedding that your pets also share. Washing your bedding regularly during the healing of your Tattoo may be a good idea as well.
  • Avoid body wash lotions and shampoos that have fragrances. It’s usually a good idea to do your normal shower routine first and wash your Tattoo with antibacterial soap last. Do not swim or go into hot tubs for two weeks or until your Tattoo is fully healed. Showers are great, baths not so much.
  • Avoid direct exposure to the sun. This shouldn’t be too hard as it would hurt like hell exposing a fresh Tattoo to sunlight. After the Tattoo is fully healed wear a high SPF sunscreen on the Tattoo.
  • Wear loose clothing over your Tattoo while it heals to avoid any rubbing that may pull off any scabs prematurely. Your new pleather pants may have to wait a few weeks.
  • We take great pride in the work we put out here at RISE ABOVE TATTOO CO. Sometimes it is normal for a Tattoo to need a “touch-up” if there was some loss of color during the healing process. We guarantee all our work and will touch-up your Tattoo for free. Please give the Tattoo at least a month to fully heal first and let us know if a touch-up is needed.
  • If you have a questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to call us at 909-399-0500. We are open 12 - 10pm Tuesday to Friday.
